Members
David Finoli and Bill Ranier have recently finished
their upcoming book, "The Pittsburgh Pirates
Encyclopedia", which will be coming out by early June.
The highlight of the book is a list (which includes
complete biographies and stats) of the top 100 Pirates
of All-Time. The following article discusses the formula
and process which both men used to select this elite
list.

COOPERSTOWN VERSES: POEMS ABOUT EACH HALL OF FAMER by
SABR Member Mark W. Schraf and Mike Shannon. Mark Schraf
has written a poem about every Hall of Famer - all 254
of them as of 2001! - and each poem attempts to identify
something unique about every member. It's a lot of fun,
and you'll probably learn something about many of the

FOR THE
GOOD OF THE COUNTRY: WORLD WAR II BASEBALL IN THE MAJOR
AND MINOR LEAGUES by SABR member David Finoli. The book
is a year by year analysis of baseball during the Second
World War. It includes team rosters between 1941 and
1946 to show how the war changed the face of the
national pastime as well as covering the Negro Leagues,
the All American Professional Girls Baseball League and
stories of baseball players abroad fighting for thier
country.
