THE 2008 SPRING MEETING
The snow is melting, the Pirates are preparing for a new season and baseball is in the air so it must be time for the semi-annual Forbes Field Chapter meeting!
A lots been happening since we last met in November. Weve had two Hot Stove gatherings; formed a group outing to see the Pirates play the Yankees this June and aided in several research requests. And now its time:
Want to know the hidden cause of the Pirates 15 year losing streak? Come hear Fred Shugars explain. Want to hear about the 1950 home run Ralph Kiner hit in Forbes Field that may be even further than Mantles Washington shot? Come listen to eyewitness Tom Hennen and Joe Norden describe it and their research about it. And, as always, test your wits against Jim Hallers confounding trivia quiz and put your final standings predictions in to Larry Pansino.
Date: Saturday, April 26, 2008
Time: 9:00am 3:30pm
Place: Senator John Heinz History Center
We still have openings so polish up that research youve been doing over the winter and get your request for time as well as your RSVPs regarding attendance in to Joe Elinich at the address shown below.
And by the way, the Phillies are in town that night so you might just want to have dinner and take in the game to see if Ryan Howard can hit one into the Allegheny as he did in the Home Run Derby that preceded the 06 All Star Game.
